Emergency services were called to the A68 West Auckland Road, at Burtree, at around 10.50am. Durham police and the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) were called after a vehicle ended up on its roof in a field next to the road following a crash. Motorists were advised to find an alternative route throughout Sunday morning and early afternoon after an extensive incident response team was deployed by NEAS. The road reopened just after 1.30pm. A NEAS spokesperson said: “One of our emergency ambulance crews came across a vehicle on the roof in a field off the A68 near Darlington at 10:50am today. “We sent a further emergency ambulance, clinical team leader, specialist paramedic, a doctor and a Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene. “Two patients were taken to Darlington Memorial hospital and a third was transported to James Cook for further treatment.” Read next:
