CTV News has learned that on Oct. 26, a man claiming to have a gun dropped by Houston in front of the premier’s office on Granville Street in Halifax. The man, who approached Houston as he exited his vehicle, was tackled by security personnel and detained until police quickly arrived. Houston, who was not injured in the incident, was safely escorted to his offices at One Government Place. The premier’s office confirmed to CTV Atlantic Sunday that the incident took place, while also providing an unpublished statement from Oct. 31 from the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. The announcement notes that while a police report was filed, no charges were brought against the man. “Security at One Gov Place and Province House have been made aware of the individual involved and have been banned from both properties under the Protection and Privacy Act for a period of one year,” the unpublished statement said.
