The annual general meeting ran from Wednesday to Saturday and featured a who’s who of the province’s municipal players past and present. There were many topics on the agenda, from infrastructure and clean drinking water, to housing and climate change. But Municipalities of Newfoundland and Labrador president Amy Coady says there’s no doubt regionalization has taken the spotlight. He says he can’t stress enough the importance of moving the process forward, adding that he realizes the costs involved, but that the status quo cannot be an option. The province has said it will move forward with a plan as soon as possible based on a recent report and recommendations it received.
