A fire broke out early Monday morning at a 35-story high-rise in Dubai near the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries from the fire at the apartment building, which was out by the time an Associated Press reporter arrived at the scene. Black marks from the flame can be seen spreading across the building which is part of a series of towers called 8 Boulevard Walk by Emaar, the state-backed developer in the emirate. Dubai Police and Civil Defense did not immediately identify the fire. Emaar did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did the Media Office of the city-state of Dubai. A spate of high-rise fires in skyscraper-studded Dubai in recent years has reignited questions about the safety of cladding and other materials used in the country. On New Year’s Eve 2015, a fire broke out at the Address Downtown, one of the most luxurious hotels and residences in Dubai near the Burj Khalifa.
