Bangalore: A Bengaluru court ordered the Congress’s Twitter handle to be temporarily blocked after a music company filed a copyright suit against the party for playing a song from the film KGF-2 at the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. M Naveen Kumar, who manages MRT music, filed a complaint against three Congress leaders, including Mr Gandhi, for allegedly using music from the Kannada superhit film KGF-2, which violated copyright laws, during during the Bharat Jodo (united India) yatra, which traveled Karnataka last month before moving on to neighboring Telangana. The court also ordered the temporary blocking of the Twitter handle of the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign. The music company director claimed that the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign videos have songs from KGF-2. Congress tweeted that it is unaware of the court proceedings and has no copy of the order. “We have read on social media about an adverse order by a Bangalore court against INC and BJY SM handlers. We have not been informed or attended any court proceedings. No copy of the order has been received. We are pursuing all remedies at our disposal,” the Congress party wrote. on Twitter, referring to the Bharat Jodo Yatra, or BJY, social media. We are pursuing all legal remedies available to us. — Congress (@INCIndia) November 7, 2022 In its ruling, the court said the music company showed a CD on which the original copyrighted version was compared with the illegally synchronized version. The court said the material available showed that the music company would be “irreparably injured” and such actions could encourage piracy. In a first information report, or FIR, filed with the police in Yashwanthpur, Bangalore, the music company said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh uploaded two yatra videos that used popular songs from KGF-2 without permission. The Bharat Jodo Yatra has so far covered six states namely Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra.
