(Areas of interest, western and eastern.) The provincial government is giving an idea of some of the parcels of land being considered for wind development in the province. The government has released maps of the western and eastern regions of the province, highlighting the lands under consideration. To the east, a portion of southern Avalon, including the Placentia region and the Burin Peninsula, appears to be under consideration. The map of the western region shows land near Stephenville, Port aux Basques, Deer Lake and Buchans as possible locations. The Department of Industry, Energy and Technology is hosting a series of virtual information sessions on the lands under consideration. The data will be used to inform decisions about the land that may be made available for the competitive land bidding process, which is expected to begin on December 15. The sessions take place next Monday and Tuesday, from 12 to 1:30 in the afternoon Those who wish to participate are requested.
