Emergency crews are dealing with a seven-vehicle crash in Glenmore as police advise caution on the roads. The crash has closed Begbie Road and affected surrounding roads. RCMP officers are at the scene diverting traffic and asking drivers to avoid the area and stay home if possible. Police say there have been several accidents today caused by slippery conditions, including one on Longhill Road that led to a fire. Another accident on Highway 97 near the airport caused delays this morning. The hills are particularly slippery. “Without good winter tires traveling the roads today will be very difficult and drivers should be extremely careful,” Kelowna RCMP said in a news release. “If you absolutely must drive, keep your distance, clear the snow from your windows so you can see clearly, and please slow down to give yourself extra time to reach your destination.” Total snowfall in the valley floor is expected to reach between 10 and 15 cm. Travel advisories also remain in effect for mountain passes in the region, with the Okanagan Connector expecting up to 20 cm.
