Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned of more possible Russian attacks on his country’s energy infrastructure. Kyiv’s mayor has warned residents to brace for the worst this winter if Russia continues to hit the country’s electricity infrastructure, meaning a lack of power, water or heat in the freezing cold cannot be ruled out . The Russian-installed administration in Ukraine’s Kherson region said a number of settlements, including the city of Kherson, had lost water and electricity after what it called an act of “sabotage”.
Diplomacy
US national security adviser Jake Sullivan has held undisclosed talks with top Russian officials in hopes of reducing the risk that the war in Ukraine will spill over or escalate into a nuclear conflict, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Economy
Russia’s Gazprom said on Monday it will send 42.4 million cubic meters of natural gas to Europe via Ukraine, Reuters news agency reported. Russia’s biggest lender Sberbank is suing global commodities firm Glencore for about 117 million euros ($116 million) over unpaid oil supplies, the Moscow Arbitration Court database showed.
