As previously reported, first responders were called around 6:45 a.m. Sunday.  to Gibbons Park near the Grosvenor Street entrance for a report of an unresponsive male.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to save the man, however the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
According to a press release from the London Police Service, the “suspicious” death is now being ruled a homicide.

The deceased has since been identified as 52-year-old Daniel Joseph Fawcett from London. 
On Sunday, police had cordoned off a section of the park and were seen conducting a strip search of the area using a metal detector.  The Criminal Investigation Unit was also present at the scene.
Officers are interested in speaking to anyone who was in the 0-100 block of Grosvenor Street between the hours of 2:00am.  to 7:00 a.m.  of Sunday or who may have information that could assist the investigation.
The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Major Crimes Department.
The causes of death are not yet known.
