In a press release issued Tuesday morning, Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) said its special victims unit launched an investigation in October after a victim reported to authorities that they had been inappropriately touched.
Police say the suspect worked at a fitness club somewhere in the Durham area. To protect the victim’s identity, police did not release the name of the club.
Police said that as a result of the investigation, Sarah Nicholson has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual exploitation.
Durham police said he worked at the fitness club for 17 years, from 2005 to 2022, but no longer works there.
Nicholson was released from custody on an operation.
