Big White Ski Resort tells Castanet they’re opening a week ahead of schedule, thanks to Mother Nature. “We’ve always had a policy of opening as soon as trails allow, and we’re confident we’ll be able to offer a good selection of green trails in just over a week,” says Michael J. Ballingall, resort senior vice president. “After two tough years in the tourism world and having to close early many years in a row, we are very excited to give our passport holders, locals and British Columbians, the opportunity to hit the slopes as soon as it is safe to do so. do.” Big White announced plans to open at 8:45am. on November 17 – seven days ahead of schedule. The move will make Big White the only ski hill in the province to open to skiers and snowboarders this season. Big White is also offering willing snow bunnies 50% off ticket prices. Ballingall estimates 114cm has fallen on the resort so far this year, taking the village’s snow base to 62cm. Lara’s Gondola, Plaza Chair and Ridge Rocket Express Chair will all be open on November 17th, with service starting at 8:45am. to 3:30 p.m. The gondola will close at 5pm. Tickets must be purchased online, with a special promo code available at BigWhite.com, to receive the 50% discount, and will remain on sale until a second removable square chair begins rotating. This is the first Big White Resort to open since the 2015-2016 season. The early opening will beat Sun Peaks’ Nov. 19 opening day, usually the region’s first, by two days.
